On 5/18/20 at approximately 9:28 pm State Police Trooper Wertz stopped a gray Nissan on a routine traffic stop on Hwy 101 near Depoe Bay. Upon contact the driver, identified as 40-year old Patricia D. Atkins exhibited signs of impairment and smelled of alcohol. She was also the subject of an active misdemeanor warrant in Lincoln County for Fail to Appear on previous charges of DUII, Resisting Arrest and Interfering with a Police Officer.
Atkins consented to and performed poorly on Safety Field Sobriety Test's. Once taken into custody she reportedly became violent with officers and Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies assisted to detain her in additional safety restraints. Atkins was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital where she was medically cleared to be lodged in jail. Upon arrival at the Lincoln County Jail she consented to a breath test rendering a result of .15% Blood Alcohol Content.
Atkins was lodged in jail on charges of DUII - Alcohol and Reckless Driving in addition to the outstanding warrant. He car was towed from the scene and Lincoln County Sheriff Deputies also assisted with transporting her dogs to Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
