Bicyclist Gets DUII And Other State Police Reports


On 10/13/24 state police trooper Wertz investigated a bicycle crash on Highway 101 near Gleneden Beach. The Bicyclist identfied as 53-year old Kelly McConnell of Gleneden Beach had been previously warned not to ride his bicycle on the highway due to exhibiting numerous signs of impairment. McConnell crashed his bicycle while crossing the highway. He consented to an performed poorly on safety field sobriety test's and was taken

into custody for DUII and was lodged at Lincoln County Jail.


On 10/15/24 Oregon State Police trooper Kanbara responded to a report of a stationary vehicle in the northbound lane on US-101 at Otter Crest Loop. An investigation revealed the vehicle had crashed into a guardrail, causing State property damage, and came to an uncontrolled rest in the northbound lane of travel. The driver of the vehicle later identified as 28-year old Jorge M. Roman Rubio of Yachats fled the scene before police arrived. He was located and arrested for multiple crimes including DUII, criminal mischief, failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage and reckless driving.


On 10/18/2024 at approximately 01:25 a.m., a red Chevrolet Camaro was stopped at Lost Creek State Park for park violations. The driver 59-year old Timothy E. Thompson of Eugene and passenger 37-year old Simone N. Brons of Seattle Washington were found to both have warrants. They were found to have criminal and substantial amounts of methamphetamine on them. Thompson gave false information to law enforcement on scene. They were both arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. Newport Police

Department and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.


On 10/18/2024 at about 6:50 pm State Police Trooper Gray responded to a two vehicle non-injury crash on highway 101 in vicinity of 35th street in South Beach. Investigation showed the driver of a red Jeep Cherokee failed to yield the right of way to a northbound driver by turning left from Hwy 101 to SE 35th street on a blinking yellow light causing the northbound driver of a black Dodge Durango to strike the jeep’s passenger side. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage but were driven from the scene. The driver of the Cherokee was issued a citation for making a dangerous left turn.


On 10/20/24 at approximately 6:59 am State police trooper Wertz investigated a single vehicle crash involving a silver Nissan Frontier, which occurred on US 101 near Beverly Beach State Park. After the crash a second vehicle, a brown Buick Enclave, arrived

at the scene. A female at the scene, identified as 31-year old Jocie D. Nelson Webbe was determined to be the driver of the Nissan and a male on scene, identified as 59-year old Jphm H. Blacketer was the driver of the Buick. Both exhibited numerous signs of impairment. They both admitted to recent use of methamphetamine and cannabis. Both consented to and performed poorly on safety field sobriety test's and were taken

into custody for DUII. In her wallet Nelson Webbe had a baggie of white crystals which tested positive for methamphetamine. Both provided urine samples to be tested for controled substances. They were lodged at Lincoln County Jail.
