August 8th just before 1pm Newport police officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting on the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased male on the west walkway of the bridge with a gunshot wound. He has now been identified as 43-year-old Justin Joseph Salisbury of Newport. Officers immediately detained a male subject at the scene and located several witnesses to the incident. The Newport Police report this is an active investigation and information has been forwarded to the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office.
