Careless Driving Could Be Costly

On the morning of March 21 Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies and Newport Fire Department were dispatched to this single-vehicle crash on Yaquina Bay Road. Everybody was okay. The vehicle was reported to be teetering on the embankment. A quick thinking area resident who came up on the crash before first responders arrived and secured the vehicle from descending further into the bay by attaching a rope from this vehicle to his own. The driver of this vehicle was issued a traffic citation for Careless Driving, which carries a $445.00 fine if the person's carelessness results in a vehicle crash.
