A community outreach event for the Newport City Center Revitalization Plan Project (NCCRPP) has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Samaritan Center for Health Education, located at 740 SW 9th St. in Newport. This event is open to the public, and will feature designers and planners of the NCCRPP, who will be available to discuss priorities and opportunities, and receive community feedback.
Options for potential traffic patterns as well as pedestrian and bicycle pathways will also be available. The goal of the NCCRPP is to create a vibrant, welcoming city center that is home to successful businesses, housing options, and community gathering space that will be enjoyed by community members and visitors.
For those unable to attend the in-person workshop, an online workshop will be available at publicproject.net/nccrp between Nov. 14 and Dec. 6, including a brief survey and an opportunity to provide feedback. In 2023, Newport City Council set a goal for the City of Newport to revitalize City Center through its urban renewal planning, leading to the establishment of the City Center Revitalization Planning Committee, which has held four public meetings since May, 2024.
