State Police Trooper Butler observed three subjects who were actively clamming together in Yaquina Bay. One subject was observed numerous times digging bay clams then handing the clams to another adult female who was standing nearby and not actively digging. The subject, later identified as 57-year old John Marble, was observed dropping clams after observing a Newport Fish and Wildlife Trooper while he walked back to the parking lot. Upon contact, Marble was found to be seven bay clams over his daily bag limit of twelve bay clams. He was cited for exceeding the daily bag limit and for digging another's clams. The seven bay clams were seized as evidence and later donated to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.
