Lincoln County Board of Commissioners Public Information Officer announced on Monday Lincoln County Administrator Tim Johnson announced his resignation effective Friday Feb. 7.

County Commissioners and administrative staff thank Administrator Johnson for his

hard work and dedication since joining the county as its first administrator in April 2022.

“In his time with Lincoln County, Administrator Johnson has implemented important

initiatives,” Lincoln County Board of Commissioners Chair Claire Hall said. “These

include innovations to the budgeting process; review of the county’s finances; exciting

branding campaigns; and real progress on several major capital projects, among them

the construction of the new Lincoln County Animal Shelter, beginning the

redevelopment of the Lincoln County Commons, and the establishment of the

Community Shelter and Resource Center. “Thank you, Administrator Johnson, for your role in Lincoln County’s progress and in its history. We wish you well in your future endeavors,” Hall said.

After Lincoln County Council Wayne Belmont retired the County Commissioners decided to bring on a County Administrator to help get projects going for the county such as the ones listed above that Mr. Johnson worked on. Lincoln County adopted Ordinance #517 in 2021, establishing the position of county administrator. Commissioner Miller stated he hopes that this is something that the commission can discuss together. Order 517 states when a permanent vacancy occurs in the position of County Administrator, the Board shall designate an Acting County Administrator until such time as a new County Administrator is appointed.

Unless Ordinance 517 were to be repealed or another passed replacing it, the county would not revert to a previous form of administration. At the Board of Commissioners meeting on February 5th a motion was passed that Commissioner Hall is the sole commissioner who is in charge of the county departments. The county stated that HR will start the recruitment process to fill the position of County Administrator.
