The following is a weekly summary update from Lincoln County Health Department Director Rebecca Austen, RN
This week we announced the first two deaths from COVID-19 in our county. We are
heartbroken for the families, friends, neighbors and coworkers of these two residents.
Our hope is that the community can work together to reduce the illness, and thus deaths
from COVID-19. Thank you to all Lincoln County residents for your efforts to help us get
our local COVID-19 outbreak under control.
As we continue to move forward, we need your help by taking the following actions.
1. Wear a face-covering when in public. This protects others in case you have the
virus and don’t know it.
2. Keep at least six feet apart from people outside your household.
3. If you get a call from the county health department, answer the call and take our
advice. We are working to stop the spread and this is a key tool.
4. Monitor your health.
The CDC announced new symptoms of COVID-19 include:
Loss of appetite, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If you have any of these
symptoms, stay home and call your medical provider to ask if you should get a test
for COVID-19. If you don’ have a provider, see our testing section to learn how to
get a test.
