Oregon State Police Trooper Kolacz responded to a crash on January 20th were two cars caught fire. Investigation showed the driver of a Chevrolet utility van, 23-year old Alyssa N. Terk of Seaside was stopped at Hillcrest Street in Gleneden Beach and US-101. There was southbound traffic on US-101 and one vehicle began taking a right turn onto Hillcrest Street. Terk began taking a left turn onto US-101 without seeing the Subaru Forester traveling southbound behind the vehicle pulling off.
The Chevrolet and the Subaru hit each other immediately. The Subaru began to catch fire which burnt most of the Subaru and part of the Chevrolet. Terk was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln hospital in Lincoln City with a head injury. The two occupants of the Subaru were reported to have had no injuries. Depoe Bay Fire Department and ODOT Incident Response assisted on-scene.
