On December 27th Staste Police Trooper Gray responded to a single car non-injury crash at approximately 6:26 PM when the northbound driver of a blue Ford Ranger was driving too fast for conditions and failed to navigate a corner, driving the truck off the southbound side of the road, through Boiler Bay state park and off a cliff. The driver
was found to be driving while suspended and without insurance. A pregnant passenger was transported to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital as a precaution. The driver a 43-year old Toledo man was issued citations for Driving while suspended, Driving without
insurance, Careless Driving, and expired registration stickers.
On 12/28/2024 at approximately 06:49 p.m.,State Police Trooper Goodey stopped a silver Ford Mustang State Police on Highway-18 near milepost 11 for traffic violations. The driver identified as 44-year old Gary D. Hutchinson of Beaverton was found to have multiple warrants and carried narcotics (fentenyl). He was arrested, transported, and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. The female intoxicated passenger and the mustang were left to the care
of a friend. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lincoln City Police Department assisted on scene.
A black Cadillac SUV was stopped by State Police Trooper Gray for failure to maintain lane on HWY 101 in Depoe Bay. The driver 63-year old Randolph E. Bain appeared intoxicated and was asked to participate in voluntary verbal and physical field sobriety tests where he performed poorly. Bain was arrested for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangering and transported to and housed at the Lincoln County Jail.
State Police Trooper Goodey stopped the driver of a White Jeep SUV on US-101 near the Yaquina Bay Bridge after the Jeep was the subject of a driving complaint. The driver 49-year old Heather M. Kern of Canby was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DUII and reckless driving. They were lodged at the Lincoln County Jail where a search warrant was also served. A dog that was in the car at the time of the arrest was given to relatives and the vehicle was impounded.
