On Wednesday 11/15/23 State Police and emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle crash with injuries on highway 101 about 6-miles south of Depoe Bay. Investigation showed the driver of a northbound Ford Mustang, identified as 58-year old JayLynn Kruse of Beaver was passing northbound traffic in the southbound lane and crashed head-on into the southbound driver of a Toyota Prius. The Mustang rolled for several hundred feet coming to a rest on its top.
The Prius was also struck in the rear by a second southbound 2015 Prius pushing the 2009 Prius across the northbound lane and down the embankment. All the occupants of the Mustang were transported to the hospital via ambulance. The driver of the 2009 Prius was also transported to the hospital via ambulance. The driver and
passengers of the 2015 Prius were uninjured. Kruse was released from the hospital and
arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving, assault 2, reckless endangering and criminal mischief. The highway was closed for nearly 4-hours during the investigation.
