On 10/2/21 at approximately 10PM an erratic driver was reported southbound from Depoe Bay on Highway 101. State Police Trooper Severson observed the driver near Moolock beach and observed the Chevy SUV swerving in the lane of travel. He performed a traffic stop and contacted the driver, identified as 51-year old Laura R. Fanning of Sweet Home, who showed signs of impairment.
When she performed field sobriety test and showed additional signs of impairment. Fanning was arrested and ultimately provided a breath sample measuring a .20 Blood Alcohol Content, over twice the legal limit. Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene. Fanning was cited and released for DUI Alcohol and Driving Suspended Misdemeanor.
On 9/28/21 at approximately 8:45 am State Police Trooper Wertz was dispatched to a rollover crash which occurred on Hwy 20 near mile post 8. Investigation showed the driver of a silver Dodge Ram pickup was westbound towing a 10 foot box trailer when, for an unknown reason, the truck drove off the westbound shoulder up an earthen embankment until it rolled over, causing the trailer to rollover and come detached. The trailer was damaged and partially opened so that numerous green marijuana stalks could be seen along with jars of harvested marijuana bud.
After observing sign of impairment the driver, identified as 35-year old Joel S. Swenson of Alsea consented to safety field sobriety test's and performed poorly. He was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to a breath and urine test. Swenson was cited for DUII cannabis, Reckless Driving and Criminal Mischief II. He was remanded to the custody of Lincoln County Parole and Probation for the purpose of investigation of parole violations.
On 9/25/21 at approximately 5PM a southbound vehicle left the roadway and crashed near milepost 28 of Highway 229. When contacted the driver, identified as 56-year old Kyle J. Day showed signs of impairment and was arrested for DUI Alcohol. He consented to a blood draw, which will be analyzed for alcohol content. Toledo Police and Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene. Day was cited and released for DUI Alcohol.
On 9/25/21 at approximately 11:44PM a westbound BMW left the roadway and crashed into trees near milepost 6.5 of Highway 18. The car also struck a road sign, a highway marker, and a power pole support cable. The driver identified as 50-year old Gabriel S. Vigil was transported to the hospital where his blood alcohol content was measured at .28, over three times the legal limit. Vigil was issued citations for DUI Alcohol, Driving while suspended violation, failure to install an IID and a search warrant was executed to seize his blood for evidence. North Lincoln Fire and Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies assisted at the scene.
