North Lincoln Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a commercial structure fire on August 23, 2024, shortly after 3:30 am in the 2600 Block of Highway 101 in Lincoln City. The first apparatus arrived in less than 4 minutes after being dispatched. They found a commercial structure with two businesses in it and heavy black smoke coming from the west end of the building. Suppression efforts were hampered by the sheer volume of materials and vehicles that were in front of and in the building.
The structural integrity of the building was of concern and firefighters were ordered to fight the fire from the outside. The fire was brought under control in about 90 minutes. In total there were four engines, a ladder truck, a heavy rescue, and three command vehicles with 18 personnel on the scene. Depoe Bay Fire and Newport Fire were on the scene to assist in firefighting activities. Nestucca Fire moved to Lincoln City to provide coverage for our district. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the North Lincoln Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office and the Department of State Fire Marshal.
