Fisherman Perishes After Being Swept Off The Rocks

On 15 Jan 2025, at approximately 2:04 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a surf rescue in progress with emergency personnel on the coastline along the north end of Otter Crest Loop, just south of Depoe Bay.  Two males were fishing on the rocks of the shoreline when one was washed out to sea by a wave.  45-year ld Hong B Su, of Happy Valley, was in the water for approximately 39 minutes before he was recovered by the United States Coast Guard.  Su was pronounced deceased when he reached the Depoe Bay Coast Guard station.
