Ahead of the 2025 legislative session, State Representative David Gomberg (D-Otis) is Oregon House Democrats’ nominee for Speaker Pro Tempore. The Oregon Legislative Coastal Caucus has also re-elected Representative Gomberg to continue serving as Chair of the Caucus. “I couldn’t be more honored to have been chosen as the Democratic nominee for Speaker Pro Tempore,” said Rep. Gomberg.
“The opportunity to lend a rural perspective to House Democratic leadership can’t be overstated. I look forward to working in tandem with Speaker Fahey to continue building upon the bipartisan, people-centered work we were able to accomplish together in the 2024 legislative session. From education, transportation, and housing to infrastructure and beyond, I have the utmost confidence that 2025 will represent a unique opportunity to tackle the most difficult challenges Oregon has been tasked with.”
The full legislative assembly will convene in January to cast their final votes on House and Senate leadership for the 83rd Legislative Assembly. Rep. Gomberg will continue serving as the Chair of the Oregon Legislative Coastal Caucus following his first election to the post in 2021. The Oregon Legislative Coastal Caucus includes bipartisan representatives and senators from Oregon’s coastal House and Senate districts including Senator David Brock Smith (R-Port Orford), Senator Dick Anderson (R-Lincoln City), Senator Suzanne Weber (R-Tillamook), Representative Boomer Wright (R-Coos Bay), Representative Court Boice (R-Gold Beach), and Representative Cyrus Javadi (R-Tillamook).
“As Coastal Caucus Chair, I take great pride in the work my colleagues and I have been able to accomplish when we put partisan differences aside and work together for the common good of the Oregon Coast. I’m honored to continue serving as Chair,” said Rep. Gomberg. “Whatever challenges our coast may be confronted with, I know that we have a solid team of legislators capable of meeting them.”
