The public is invited to discuss the 2024 Pacific halibut Catch Sharing Plan (CSP) and 2024-25 recreational bottomfish fishery Sept. 26. at the ODFW Newport office, 2040 SE Marine Science Dr. from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. A virtual option is available. ODFW marine fishery managers ask for public feedback on halibut proposals including allocation shifts of the quota between Oregon, Washington, and California, and the flexibility to add additional all-depth fishing days to the Central Coast Subarea. ODFW manages Pacific halibut in partnership with the Pacific Fishery Management Council.
Staff will review preliminary recommendations for the 2024 recreational bottomfish fishery that the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will consider at their Dec. 15 meeting and provide a look ahead at the 2025 recreational bottomfish fishery. Check ODFW's Pacific halibut and bottomfish webpages for information to be presented at the meeting and online surveys for those unable to attend.
