*UPDATE*
On 12/30/2022, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies located and arrested 38-year-old Justin Caldwell in this case. Justin is lodged at the Lincoln County Jail on Criminal Trespass I, Criminal Mischief I, and a Probation Violation Detainer issued by his Lincoln County Community Corrections Probation Officer. Community support provided valuable information that allowed us to determine Justin's identity and a general area he was likely to be located.
On 12/27/2022 at about 6:00am, an unknown male broke a sliding glass door on the back side of a residence in the 6000 block of Salmon River Highway in Otis. Upon entering the residence, the male suspect apparently realized that the residence was vacant and apparently left without stealing anything. A photo of the suspect is attached to this post and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office would appreciate any community information on his identity or location. If the suspect is located, criminal charges could include felony burglary, misdemeanor trespass, and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
In this case, the owner of the property was able to provide a good photo of the suspect that allows the Sheriff's Office to continue to gather information to hold this criminal accountable. Common best practices in preventing burglary or enhancing burglary investigations are simple but often overlooked, such as securing doors before leaving, installing "No Trespass" signage at the entrance to the property, or setting up a camera system you are comfortable using. Any information on this suspect can be sent to nvaille@co.lincoln.or.us or called into Dispatch for Deputy Vaille at 541-265-0777.
