State Police Trooper Kehr responded when two hunters called in a complaint of a subject who had shot several times at a herd of elk from Hwy. 229. The callers also reported that the elk were shot on private land. A female, identified as 66-year old Patricia K. Lichau of Neatsu was contacted at her vehicle on the private property. She advised that a group of elk crossed the road in front of them and her husband, 66-year old Kendal John Logan of Neotsu stopped and shot at two spike elk from the road.
Lichau said couldn't get a shot. Two elk were killed by her husband and tagged with his tag and her tag. Mr. Logan was contacted and refused to talk. He was ultimately cited and released for Shooting from a public road, Exceeding the limit on bull elk and Borrowing a big game tag. Mrs. Lichau was cited as a violation for Loaning a big game tag. Two spike elk, two second period bull elk tags and a Browning 300 WSM rifle were seized as evidence.
