Oregon State Police have responded to several crashes up and down the coast. As Labor day weekend approaches, please remember there will be increased traffic. There is also some moisture on the roadways that we haven't had in awhile that is making the roads more slick. Sunday night around 11:20pm state police trooper Kanbara responded to a report of a single car crash on hwy 20 just east of Newport. First aid was administered until medical personnel arrived. A passenger was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for their injuries and the driver was transported by family members to the hospital. Newport Fire and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
OSP responded to hwy 101 just north of the Waldport Bridge on a report of a truck that was northbound out of Waldport when the driver lost his 16 foot boat which hit an ODOT sign. On hwy 20 OSP troopers responded to a single vehicle crash when the driver of a Dodge pickup drove outside of its lane, causing the truck to drive into the ditch and up an earthen embankment. The driver was not injured, he claimed that there may have been a mechanical malfunction. And OSP received a report of a ford escape that flipped onto its side when the driver came off of hwy 18 at milepost 6 onto a gravel road. The driver was not injured, she was able to recover the car and drive it from the scene.
