On the evening of June 1, 2019, the Oregon State Police responded to a suspicious activity call on Highway 101 in Depoe Bay. The caller reported a female came to her residence with a child and was pounding on her condo door claiming she was being chased by a male with a firearm. The investigation found the female was involved in a non-injury traffic crash and there was not a male chasing the female with a weapon. The woman, who was later identified as 29-year old Angelica Gonzalez Diaz of Eugene admitted to driving the Nissan SUV and displayed several signs of impairment.
She was taken to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital as she reported to be experiencing pain. While at the hospital, she consented to field sobriety tests where additional signs of impairment were detected. The woman consented to a blood draw and urine sample was collected after the hospital found a presence of methamphetamine in her toxicology screening. Gonzalez Diaz was arrested and lodged at the Lincoln County Jail. While at the jail, jail staff discovered suspected controlled substances and she was charged with DUII Alcohol & Controlled Substances, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, Possession of controlled substances for Methamphetamine, and Cocaine. The child was placed in protective custody with DHS.
