Today, March 10th is the deadline to file as a candidate for the 2020 Primary held on May 19th. Becoming a candidate for public office is challenging, but an important part of our democratic process. Locally you can file online or in person at the county courthouse up until the 5 p.m. deadline.
Secretary of State Bev Clarno said “I commend anyone who is willing to sacrifice their time and energy to become a candidate for any office, it is tough work and takes a strong dedication to service,” The May 19th Primary is only 11 weeks away. April 28th is the last day to register to vote or to change your party affiliation (oregonvotes.gov/myvote).
Locally for State Senate for District 5 there are two running Dick Anderson from Lincoln City and Melissa Cribbins of Coos Bay. For Lincoln County Circuit Court Judge position 1 Russ Baldwin of Yachats is running against Sheryl M Bachart. For position 2 Amanda Benjamin is running against appointed Judge Marcia Buckley. There are three running for Lincoln County District Attorney appointed DA Jonathan Cable, Lanee Danforth and Kenneth R Park.
For Lincoln County Commissioner position 2 there are currently four candidates current commissioner Claire Hall with three running against her David M Davis of Toledo, Joe Hitselberger of Seal Rock and Edward M Johnston also of Toledo.
