Judge Amanda Benjamin sentenced 55 year old Dane Lee Day to 162 months in the Department of Corrections for Oregon Measure 11 assault crimes committed on October 7th, 2021. Day’s tailgating and dangerous driving caused two motorcyclists to crash; one carried a passenger and all three sustained grave injuries. Deputy District Attorney Amber Kolsrud represented the State in trial and stressed the importance of safe driving, as this conduct could have easily resulted in fatalities.
On October 7, 2021, 55-year old Dane Lee Day, was driving his truck aggressively and erratically, within inches of two motorcyclists, one with a passenger. His continued tailgating caused them to crash, one rider on the road, and the other motorcyclist along with their passenger landed in the ditch. All passengers sustained serious injuries, but luckily survived. On March 9th, 2022 Day was convicted by a Lincoln County jury of eight counts of driving offenses, including three felony assault charges, two of which are subject to Oregon Measure 11. The State was represented by Deputy District Attorney Amber Kolsrud in this case. The sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM in front of Judge Amanda Benjamin.
