While on patrol on Tuesday 1/21/2025 just before 11am Sgt Pitcher with the Toledo Police Department was on highway 229 when he saw a male walking northbound in the southbound lane. Sgt Pitcher recognized the man as Eric S. Shoberg who had warrants out for his arrest; he also noticed when he approached Shoberg that he had a hatchet in one hand and a hammer in the other. Sgt. Pitcher called for back up and told Shoberg to drop the weapons.
At first Shoberg complied with dropping the weapons and sitting down as backup from OSP and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived. When attempting to put him in handcuffs Shoberg started kicking and resisting arrest. Officers were able to get him into the back of Sgt Pitchers patrol car where he continued kicking and did a great deal of damage to the back of the patrol car. He was lodged at the Lincoln County Jail for resisting arrest and criminal mischief along with the previous warrants. "I was grateful for the back up and quick response by the Sheriff's Office and OSP" stated Sgt. Pitcher.
