On June 26, 2019 at approximately 02:30am, Officer Henderson with Toledo Police Department alerted to radio traffic that Philomath Police Department was in a vehicle pursuit, westbound on Highway 20, near mile post Ins inte39. Reports of a Silver Nissan Sentra that was driving speeds of 100 MPH and eluding Police.
Officer Henderson was able to locate the suspect vehicle on Highway 20, at approximately mile post 17, joining Philomath Police, in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle showed no signs of yielding, turning onto Elk City Road, continuing towards Sunny Ridge Rd, then proceding up 1000 line on the outskirts of Toledo.
Officer Henderson requested agency assistance from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Newport Police Department.
The fleeing suspect continued turning on a logging road, leading to North Beaver Creek Road, where Officer Henderson took lead in the pursuit.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputies’ were able to deploy spike strips on the car to slow the suspect down. The fleeing suspect continued northbound on Highway 101, where it eventually headed into a residential neighborhood off NW Kona Street, in the Ona beach area. The vehicle continued to a dead end street where the suspect ultimately gave up and was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as 49 year old Eddy Lee Brown of Newport, who was taken into custody by Philomath Police Department and transported to Lincoln County Jail. Brown is facing charges of Felony attempt to Elude Police, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangering with additional pending charges.
