The playground at Sam Moore Parkway will be temporarily closed beginning immediately to allow for the installation of new, state-of-the-art playground equipment. This upgrade is part of an ongoing effort by Newport Parks and Recreation to improve public spaces, promote outdoor activity, and ensure that local parks are safe and accessible for all residents.
“This upgrade reflects our commitment to creating safe and welcoming recreational spaces for our community,” said Mike Cavanaugh, Newport Parks and Recreation Director. “The new equipment coming to the playground is designed to promote and encourage physical activity, creativity, and social interaction among youth. When completed, this modernized playground will offer enhanced play opportunities and become a popular destination for families in Newport.”
Construction and installation of all equipment are expected to be completed by the end of November, and the playground will reopen shortly thereafter. During this time, community members are encouraged to visit other City of Newport parks which offer various outdoor activities and recreational facilities.
