A process that started over 6-months ago to find a new city manager for the city of Toledo is now complete. According to Toledo Mayor Rod Cross the city worked with the Prothman company to help in the recruitment process. The council interviewed four of the recommended candidates and offered the position to one of them. However that person decided not to take the job after all, so Cross said it was back to the drawing board.
During the second round he said they received over thirty applications. These applicants were narrowed down to the top two. Judy Richter, who was the cities finance director was one who applied and was selected as the best candidate for the job. According to Cross "Judy is familiar with the city and can hit the ground running."
She will be working alongside the city manager Pro-tem Wes Hare, who Cross thanked for stepping in and working with the city during this process. "Wes did an outstanding job as our city manager pro-tem. His guidance and leadership has helped the city to stay on track for what we needed to do and has given quality guidance to the council on how to approach difficult issues and he will be missed."
Judy has her hands full with trying to now fill in some important vacancies at the city including the need for a public works director and her replacement as finance director. Cross added he is confident in Judy's skills and the council is confident in her ability to keeping the city moving forward in a positive direction.
