On 12/31/19 at approximately 6:42 pm State Police Trooper Wertz came across a recently abandoned Chrysler on Hwy 34. The car was partially blocking the westbound lane and facing the wrong way. The passenger window was rolled down and a half empty pint of Fireball whiskey was in plain view on the passenger seat. Trooper Wertz responded to the registered owner's address where he located the owner, identified as 56-year old Michael P Walter of Depoe Bay, who was visibly intoxicated.
Mr. Walter reportedly admitted to recently driving the car and leaving it on the highway. He admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving but insisted he had no alcohol to drink since leaving his car. Walter consented to and performed poorly on the Safety Field Sobriety Test's. Afterward he was taken into custody and transported to Lincoln County Jail where he consented to a breath test rendering a result of .12% Blood Alcohol Content and he was lodged in jail on charges of DUII - Alcohol and Reckless Driving.
Then at around midnight State Police Trooper Wertz was patrolling in Lincoln City when he observed a white Honda SUV execute an illegal U-turn in the intersection of NW 17th St. He conducted a traffic stop near NW 13th St. Upon contact the female driver, identified as 25-year old Jaimie L. Wicklund exhibited numerous signs of impairment and reportedly admitted to recently drinking alcohol.
She consented to and performed poorly on Safety Field Sobriety Test's and afterward was taken into custody. During a pat down brass knuckles were discovered concealed in her pants pocket. She authorized her car to be released to her passenger. After identifying the passenger, 35-year old Christopher L. Hollingsworth it was discovered he was the subject of an active misdemeanor warrant for DUII issued from Jefferson County Circuit Count on 10/1/19.
Mr. Hollingsworth was taken into custody and during a pat down a switchblade was discovered concealed in his pants pocket. He also had multiple previous felonies in his criminal history. The Honda was secured at the scene. Both occupants were transported to Lincoln County Jail. Wicklund consented to a breath test rendering a result of .08% Blood Alcohol Content and was lodged on charges of DUI - Alcohol and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Hollingsworth was lodged on the Misdemeanor warrant and charged additionally with Felon in Possession of a weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
