The City of Newport will hold its annual City Hall holiday tree lighting on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 5:30 P.M., at the Newport City Hall, 169 SW Coast Highway. Following the tree lighting, a brief reception ill be held in the City Hall. Festivities will begin at 5:30 P.M. with greetings from the Newport City Council and staff. This will be followed by music provided by the Oregon Coast Chorus, of Sweet Adelines International, and refreshments in City Hall.
The City would like to give a special thanks to some local businesses for their generous assistance this year. The holiday tree was donated by Starker Forests, from Philomath. Starker Forests has graciously donated holiday trees to Newport and other communities.
Kylie Williams, with Rip Current Weaving, who donated much of the handmade recycled crab line art/ornaments, made from lines from the Newport docks. Englund Marine and Industrial Supply who donated hanging buoys to be used as ornaments on the tree. Last year, the City of Newport Police, Fire, Library and Parks and Recreation received a total of 5,000 pounds of food, all City of Newport departments are participating this year. Anyone can drop
off nonperishable people food to their favorite department donation bin, between Monday,
November 27, and Wednesday, December 20th. All food will benefit Food Share of Lincoln
County.
