In early 2023, Fire Chief Rob Dahlman applied for a grant from the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM) to acquire a water tender through their Engine Program. In April 2023, North Lincoln Fire and Rescue (NLFR) received confirmation that it had been chosen as one of 76 local fire agencies in Oregon to obtain essential firefighting resources under the Engine Program. This initiative is overseen by OSFM and financed through Senate Bill 762. NLFR is among the three fire agencies in Lincoln County selected to benefit from this grant.
As a recipient, NLFR has entered into a contractual agreement with OSFM to enhance local, regional, and statewide response capabilities. The newly acquired water tender, valued at approximately $450,000, is equipped with specialized wildland firefighting gear, capable of pump-and-roll operations, and carries 2,000 gallons of water. NLFR cordially invites the public to attend Water Tender 16’s Push-In Ceremony scheduled for Friday, August 23, 2024, at 3:30 pm. The event will take place at Station 16 located at 4520 SE Highway 101, Lincoln City, OR 97367.
Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the apparatus, witness its operational features, engage with fire personnel, and enjoy light refreshments. The push-in ceremony holds a significant tradition within the firefighting community, serving as a moment for NLFR to celebrate alongside the community, showcasing our collective pride in our stations and equipment.
