State Police Trooper Goodey responded to a two-car crash that occurred on Highway 34 near milepost 26. The driver of a Dodge 1500, identified as 40-year old Trent D. Fleetwood of Waldport failed to drive within its lane in a curve and struck a Ford Ranger. Fleetwood was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport by ambulance. Further investigation found Fleetwood to be impaired and he was arrested at the hospital. He faces charges of DUII for alcohol and cannabis, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, and criminal mischief 2. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, ODOT, Pacific West, Yachats fire, and Central Coast Fire assisted on scene.
On 10/5/23 at approximately 3PM State Police Trooper Seeverson responded to a car vs motorcycle crash in Depoe Bay. Investigation showed a southbound Toyota Solara, driven by 66-year old Avery C. Bohnstehn drove into the B lane from the A lane on US Highway 101 in Depoe Bay in preparation to park. As the driver merged into the B lane, a southbound motorcyclist collided with the front right wheel of the Toyota. The motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle and crashed onto the roadway. The rider was transported to the Samaritan Pacific Communities hospital for evaluation. Bohnstehn was issued a citation for failure to drive within the lane of travel. Depoe Bay Fire and ODOT assisted at the scene.
