
At about 10am on Friday March 21st North Lincoln Fire and Rescue (NLFR) responded to a report of a fire at the Ridge Apartments in Lincoln City. Upon arrival, crews found one of the apartment buildings on fire. On arrival, NLFR found heavy smoke coming from the third floor of the apartment building. The sprinkler system also helped to get the fire under control. North Lincoln Fire crews with help from Depoe Bay fire were able to get the fire out quickly. There were 6 families displaced due to the fire. According to Cody Heidt, NLFR public information officer the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. There are 6 units that were affected.
Shiela Stiley with NW Coastal Housing, owners of the apartment building, thanked fire fighters for their quick response. There were no injuries reported. Fire damage was limited to one apartment. Multiple other apartments were affected by water damage. Heidt reminds everyone to clean their dryer ducts, ensure clothes have not fallen behind their dryer and to make sure they have working smoke alarms. NLFR thanked Depoe Bay Fire and Lincoln City Police Department for their assistance on scene. He also thanked Nestucca Fire for providing district coverage during the fire. The families who were displaced are working with the Red Cross to get essentials and arrange for temporary shelter.
