Oregon State Trooper Kolacz attempted to stop the driver of a black Kia Niro for traveling 62 mph in a 35 mph zone at the north end of Depoe Bay on hwy 101. The driver did not pull over after lights and sirens were used. The Oregon State Police no longer attempted to stop the vehicle but gave updates to Lincoln City police of its location. Lincoln City police set up with two units and attempted a stop near Schooner Creek Road on hwy 101 as the Kia headed northbound. The driver, identified as 66-year old Michael S. Spilka of Corvallis stopped and OSP took him into custody for Attempt to Elude using a vehicle and he was issued a citation for the crime and for speeding.
