State Police Respond To Several Crashes


On 10/7/21 at approximately 6:45PM a road rage incident caused two northbound motorcycle riders to crash on Highway 101 in Yachats. The rider and female passenger of one of the motorcycles were taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital and another rider was airlifted to Corvallis Hospital with unknown injuries. Associates of the riders recovered the motorcycles. ODOT, Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies, Central Coast Fire and Yachats Fire assisted at the scene.


On 10/7/21 State Police Trooper Kolacz responded to a crash on Hwy 18. Investigation showed the driver of a Jeep was attempting to cross highway 18 from the north side to the south side from a parking lot north of the Otis Gas Station. While the Jeep began crossing, a Toyota sedan was driving westbound and a crash occurred. No injuries were reported. North Lincoln Fire and Rescue assisted on-scene.


On 10/8/21 State Police Trooper Kolacz responded to a crash north of Seal Rock on Hwy 101. Investigation showed the driver of a white Chevrolet Astro van was turning left off NW Huckleberry Lane onto Hwy-101 northbound. When the Chevrolet proceeded to take the left turn it did so in front of a grey Ford Ranger which was traveling southbound causing a crash. The driver of each vehicle reported minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, 64-year old Richard L. Guggenbickler of Albany was issued a citation for not yielding into the road from a stop sign.


On 10/10/21 Trooper Kolacz responded to a rear end collision on hwy 20. Investigation showed the driver of a maroon Nissan Xterra was slowing to a stop on US-20 eastbound near mile post 4.5 waiting to turn left into her driveway. The vehicle traveling behind the Xterra slowed and moved to the shoulder to avoid a collision with the vehicle behind it, a grey Nissan Sentra. The driver of the Nissan Sentra was unable to slow in time and crashed into the rear end of the Xterra. The driver of the Xterra was transported to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport with minor injuries.
