On February 2nd State Police Trooper Larson stopped the driver of a Cadillac after observing it make an improperly executed right turn near Hwy 20 and Hwy 101 in Newport. Upon contact with the driver, identified as 31-year old Samantha Zimmer of Milwaukie, Trooper Larson observed drug paraphernalia in her purse. Newport Police and the K9 Nero responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
The passenger identified as 32-year old Edward Brown of Milwaukie was observed trying to conceal items and was detained. He was found concealing suspected heroin, scales, and packaging material. A further search of Mr. Brown found suspected methamphetamine, an additional scale and packaging material. A car search was conducted which found currency consistent with drug sales as well as concealed weapons such as a baton, knives, and metal knuckles.
Brown reportedly admitted responsibility for the contraband found inside the car and was transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on possession, delivery and manufacturing of controlled substances for the Heroin and Methamphetamine. Zimmer was cited for PCS Methamphetamine. The Newport Police Department assisted the Oregon State Police with this investigation.
