Two Cited For Crabbing And Fishing Violations


On September 1st State Police Fish and Wildlife Trooper Butler contacted Tomas, Barajas Cruz of Vancouver Washington on Yaquina Bay, who was found in possession of 26 female Dungeness crab, 15 undersized male Dungeness crab, 4 legal sized male Dungeness crab and 8 red rock crab.


Cruz was charged with take and possession of female Dungeness crab and for possession of undersized Dungeness crab. The 41 female and undersized Dungeness crab were returned to Yaquina Bay unharmed.

The next day Trooper Butler contacted 55-year old Nicholas Hempstead of Lebanon Oregon at South Beach Marina on Yaquina Bay in possession of excess marine rockfish. He had caught four marine rockfish over his daily bag limit and was cited for exceeding the daily bag limit. The four marine rockfish were seized as evidence and later donated to charity.
