The fire near the intersection of Hwy 20 and Sam's Creek is now under control. Fire crews will be extinguishing hot spots throughout the night watching into Thursday. Fire personnel from ODF Toledo, ODF Philomath, North Lincoln, Depoe Bay, Newport, Siletz, Seal Rock, and Toledo were on scene throughout the day to help contain the fire.
Fire Command and the Sheriff’s Office are issuing a Level 1 - BE READY to evacuate for the following areas: All of Sams Creek Road off of Hwy 20; areas west of Sams Creek Road to Pioneer Mountain Loop at Cook Road and all of Cook Road.
Accordingto the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Level 1 - BE READY to evacuate notice will remain in effect overnight for Sams Creek Road; the area west of Sams Creek Road to Pioneer Mountain Loop at Cook Road; and all of Cook Road. Public safety officials will reassess lifting the evacuation notice Thursday morning, July 27.
Fire crews will remain on scene overnight working with state air resources for fire suppression. Community members in the evacuation zone should continue to monitor your telephone devices for messages from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. If conditions worsen, Public safety officials will issue an upgrade to a level 2 – BE SET or a level 3 – GO NOW if necessary.
