Newport residents and visitors may have noticed a change in the iconic Yaquina Bay Bridge recently. We successfully completed a bridge restoration project about six months ahead of schedule and $2 million under budget. The bridge, a vital route for travelers on U.S. 101 through Newport, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Beginning in the spring of 2020, we launched an extensive restoration effort to sustain the bridge's structural integrity and extend its lifespan.
The project focused on three key areas: protecting the bridge from corrosion, repairing damaged concrete, and fortifying the bridge against potential earthquakes.
We completed the project six months ahead of time, significantly reducing project management and overhead costs This achievement speaks volumes about the efficiency and dedication of the project team. This restoration was crucial to keep the Yaquina Bay Bridge safe and in good working order. These improvements make sure the bridge can better handle challenges from nature and earthquakes.
